La Moinerie almost exclusively uses one fisherman for all fish requirements,
and this has been the case for the previous decade, a Mr. Johnathon Shuker, a remarkable individual who braves all weathers to deliver a vast array of produce for our chef to prepare,
Produce ranges from the following:-
Lobster
spider crabs
Crabs
Sea bass
Skate(Ray)
Red Mullet
Grey Mullet
Dover sole
bream
Gilt edged bream
Mackerel
Monkfish
Gurnard
Taupe
Conger eel
and the list goes on......
Johnathon, and the other sark fishermen, are the individuals who breath the life into the local retaurant trade, without there daring exploits day in day out in the trecherous Sark waters, we would not be able to open our doors.
Hats off!
A man went fishing one day. He looked over the side of his boat and saw an Octopus with a crab in its mouth. feeling sorry for the Crab, he reached down, gently took the Crab from the Octopus, and set the Crab free. But then he felt sorry for the Octopus. He looked around the boat, but he had no food. All he had was a bottle of Cognac. So he opened the bottle and gave the Octopus a few shots. The Octopus went off happy, the Crab was happy, and the man was happy to have performed such good deeds. He thought everything was great until about ten minutes passed and he heard something knock against the side of the boat. With stunned disbelief, the fisherman looked down and saw the Octopus was back with two Crabs!
Obviously a Sark Octopus!!
